DOUBLE Featuring 安室奈美恵 "BLACK DIAMOND" (PV).

Well, the spring semester is finally over. Finals, lab reports, papers and research projects have been submitted and the grades are in the books. Overall, although the end results weren't pretty, I received my credits and pulled one semester closer to my degree. Anyway, with the free time I have between now and the summer semester I can get back to two things I enjoy, practicing my nihongo and posting music and fashion tidbits on ikinoii. Last night I was able to get a copy of this much anticipated video via one of my favorite torrents.

Talk about hot! My love of all things electro is not much of a secret, so no one should be surprised that I am completely ga-ga over this song and video. Throw in two of the sexiest women over thirty on the J-pop/J-urban landscape and we have a straight to ipod video selection. But don't take my word for it, see it for yourself. My one quibble: Namie might need to seek out a new choreographer, she's got some recycled dance moves in there. That aside, this is one dope dance track. I predict it will be H-U-G-E on MTV, radio and dance floors alike and ring up some big, big sales.

Music Now: Ikinoii Mixtape - Special Edition.

A few days ago, I mentioned how the whole planet has gone totally 80s. To illustrate that point, at least as far as contemporary music goes, I thought it would be cool to present the new ikinoii with something I frequently did with the old version, A Musical presentation I call Music Now. This inaugural, special edition is all about electro. So all you fellas throw on a skinny tie, you ladies dress up like Pat Benatar or Belinda Carlisle and we can all dance like we were in the Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go video. Or perhaps not.

In any case enjoy the musical trip, I think my point is pretty obvious regarding the global 80s electro rebirth. The artists featured here are from all over the world, the U.S., Japan England, France and Germany and span musical genres, alternative, rock, techno, R&B and hip hop. I even threw in some classics for comparison. Enjoy.

Tell all those other J-Pop chicks they're officially being put on notice, the Queen of hip-Pop is back.

NAMIE AMURO "New Look" (PV).

Absolutely brilliant, there hasn’t been anything like this since the days of Pizzicato Five. This new song and video from J-Pop diva, Namie Amuro is just too cute but, of course it is. How could a song about a woman wanting to look her best not be cute? I’ve always loved my girls to be, well very girly. I think it’s very sexy. So this type of stuff always gets my attention. Other than that, it was nice from a personal point of view to see the Pat Field cameo appearance. Music-wise, I think the Sample of The Supremes’ Baby Love is a perfect fit for the track. If you haven’t seen it yet, check out the companion track and video, Rock Steady here.
